Day 7: Visitng Chaiyi Count

We leave the Mr. Apples’s house at 9.a.m., where we have been kindly hosted for the last 4 days,  now we are welcomed by the next Rotary club members that will be our guides for today. Markus and Goran still do not feel good, however we are heading back to South again.

Taiwanese say the Spring is coming, but  it is around + 28 degrees outside this morning. Though Taiwanese people keep wearing boots, jackets and trousers, it is the winter time for them.

First we have breakfast, but the whole group is not able to eat almost anything – our hosts are very, very friendly, they offer the big size Taiwanese food, cakes and coffee, but Markus and Goran drink only water, girls mostly long for simpliest fruits or salad, and for Janis even Mc Donald seems to be an option today. The food and hospitality is strongly linked together here, but we have no more space for it.

We start our visits with E Shin Orchid Garden. Here we get to know how the flowers are cultivated for the export to Japan, we also see the sprouts of flowers in different  stages – baby, teenager and even the big grandmother of the plant.

We are happy to get fresh pinapples and sugarcans, and we continue our way to Sun Power Generation company called Sun Edge, where we learn more about green energy and the future abilities of using Sun created power. Afterwards we visit an elementary school with solar panels on the roof – this system is a gift for the school from the company, as its leader’s family has studied there in a few generations. Goran and Markus leave for hotel as they feel sick again, but for Latvians the day ends with the Round table dinner, and afterwards we get to hotels. Happy to get to sleep.
