Day 1: Arriving in Kaohsiung

After a short flight from our home countries the team meet in Helsinki International airport Vantaa before boarding the 9,5 hour night flight to Hong Kong. From Hong Kong we flew to our final destination Kaohsiung. After a total of 13 hours in the air we reached the end of our trip. Our connections were smooth with very little transfer time in between the flights. Big thanks to the Rotary travel agency!

On arrival in Kaohsiung five tired Europeans were greeted by a very happy Rotary delegation, something that’s certainly cheered us up. After that we were taken to our hotel in Tainan, a neighbouring city to Kaohsiung. “Les Hotel Tainan” is a very luxuries hotel with Greek columns, gym, swimming pool. We even have Jacuzzis in our rooms.

Before we went to bed we venture out together with our Rotarian friends who bought us some food and milk tea. Eating with chop sticks is really difficult. Hopefully there will be many opportunities to practise. A long day of travel ended as soon as we put our heads on our pillows and fell asleep, but the GSE adventure just begun.
