GÖRAN FRANSSON

Team Leader, Self employed Business Consultant, Linköping, Sweden

Göran Fransson is the Team Leader of the GSE team.
He is born in Sweden and currently living in the City of Linköping, Sweden. Göran joined Linköping Aurora Rotary Club in 1993 as a Charter member. The Club is a breakfast club and meets weekly at one of Linköpings major hotels. Göran has been Chair of the Club Service Committee twice, Chair of the Membership Committee, Club Secretary and Club President. He has also worked with many Rotary projects, such as, Charity concerts, Linkoping Summer Festival and School projects.

In his professional career, Göran worked in the International Travel and Airline Industry for many years. Some of the positions he has held include Travel Agency Manager and Airport Manager at Linkoping International Airport. In later years Göran became the Event and Exhibition Manager at one of Sweden's top ten corporations. Currently he is working as a Business Consultant, assisting companies to improve their products, services and increase their profitability.

Göran has been married for 30 years with Aita who is working as a Teacher. They have two children, a daughter Lena (25) and a son Peter (28). Aita and Göran lives in their own house close to downtown. They also have a summer house, an old farm house 30 minutes south of the city in the lake district, where they spend a lot of time especially during the summer. In his spare time Göran takes pleasure in travelling and meeting new people, culture such as art, music and theatre, and also enjoys experiencing the variety of different natures. Göran also loves good food and fine wines.

Göran believes in the Rotary motto Service Above Self. He is convinced that throught the fewllowship of Rotary many great advantages can be found, both personally for himself to evolve socially and spiritually, but also for the greater good of the global society. While understanding the importance of a comprehensive network and friendship, Görans beleives that Rotary can make a great differece in many peoples lives, by bringing people from different cultures together.

Göran is exited to be a part of this great opportunity to visit the beautiful island of Formosa and learn more about the special culture and customs of the Taiwanese people. He will treasure this experience given by Rotary and is looking forward to make new friends during this exchange.

ANNA ORNINA

Communication manager, artist, Ventspils, Latvia

Anna lives in Ventspils, but comes from Kuldiga, a small town in the west of Latvia. She works as a communication manager and producer at The Center of Performing Arts “Jūras vārti” in Ventspils. She also leads a design project, creating and generating wooden board (table) games for children and adults.

Anna graduated from the Art Academy of Latvia with a master degree in fine arts (department of print making, graphic art). She also graduated the University of Latvia, Faculty of Education and Psychology with a bachelor degree in art pedagogy. She has studied in Manchester Metropolitan University in United Kingdom in 2005.

Anna enjoys to create an interior and graphic design. She has numerous sketchbooks and drawings, which are expressing her impressions and ideas. She likes many kinds of sport activities, especially cross country skiing and orienteering. Anna hopes that joining the GSE program will help her not only to get to know the completely different culture, life stile and country, but also share experiences in her professional area.

DANA INDĀNE

Event manager, producer, performing artist, Riga, Latvia


Dana Indāne is 28 years old and lives in Riga, Latvia. She works at MARTA Resource Center for Women and with independent art projects. Her work as a producer, event manager and project coordinator is mainly for international and local projects in the field of arts, education and social issues. She also works as theater artist, musician and creative director. She deeply studies integrated body and voice techniques in arts and therapy.

In 2010 she graduated from the Latvian Academy of Culture with M.A. in Theatre Arts. In 2005/2006 she studied Performance Design at Roskilde Universitetscenter in Denmark. She has B.A. with a major in Danish culture and language.

In her free time Dana travels, studies traditional singing, attends yoga classes, and spends beautiful time with her family and friends. Through GSE programme, Dana sees a unique possibility to both learn the Taiwanese culture as well as to meet new professionals working in the field of arts.

MARKUS JONSSON

Political editor, Linköping, Sweden

Markus Jonsson is 26 years old and lives in Linköping, a city in the south of Sweden. He works as a Political editor at the newspaper Östgöta Correspondenten (The East Swedish Correspondent).

His job involves analysing and commentating contemporary politics, current trends and societal issues in general. The political editorial staff consists of two persons and the editor in chief that together shape the opinion of the newspaper. Markus has a Master of Arts with a major in history from Linköping University. In his free time he likes to watch and play ice-hockey and go cross-country skiing.

During this study tour Markus hope to learn more about Taiwanese history, government and political situation. Increased knowledge in these fields would be greatly beneficial for his professional career.

JĀNIS ZAHARĀNS

Architect, Riga, Latvia
Jānis Zaharāns is 26 years old and lives in the capital city of Latvia – Riga. He works in construction company BELSS as a project manager. His job is related to social, medical and sport building projects.He studied in Riga Technical University in the  Faculty of Materials Science and Applied Chemistry, in the Materials Technology and Design Program.
His hobbies are cooking, snowboarding and fishing. In his free time he likes travelling, hiking and watching ice-hockey. He is interested in materials innovation, green technologies and architectural design. In the GSE program Jānis hopes to see and learn more about Taiwanese culture and traditions. This experience is unique for him and a great opportunity to learn from one of “Asias tigers”.
